Being a child while black has its consequences.

When you think of children, you may think of their innocent questions, their harmlessly foolish adventures in the backyard, or their funny reactions to tasting lemons for the first time. Unfortunately, when it comes to black children, their cuteness can not save them from their limited innocence in America. For black children, their innocence expires much faster than their white counterparts.

In a study conducted by the American Psychology Association in 2014, which involved 264 mostly white, female students from different universities, students overestimated the age of blacks by an average of…

Women’s struggles don’t need cutesy euphemisms.

The term “glass ceiling” was coined by feminists and represents barriers that prohibit women from advancing toward the top of a hierarchical corporation. Women of color are impacted by these barriers even more because they are members of two marginalized groups — women and their racial group.

When discussing sexism, it is better to frame it as oppressive and dehumanizing. Glass ceilings are not easy to break, and they are not fun to overcome, and the fight against oppression includes gaslighting, mockery, threats, and sometimes isolation. …

“Imagine our confusion today looking out across the country, the very same people who just the other day told us that segregation is immoral are now enforcing segregation,” he said.

“If we still had water fountains, the unvaccinated would have separate ones.” he said.

These are comments from Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who claimed unvaccinated people are victims of segregation and “medical Jim Crow” because of workplace vaccine requirements.

Thankfully, social media critics quickly pushed back on his foolish comparison.

Unlike The Fox & Friends crew and Fox News co-founder, Rupert Murdoch, Carlson has yet to confirm…

On the first day of Pride month, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill that bars transgender girls from playing on girls’ sports teams in public schools. The bill will take effect on July 1 and includes middle schools, high schools, and colleges.

Although scientists and doctors have repeatedly confirmed that trans athletes do not have unfair advantages in sports, GOP lawmakers continue to propose anti-trans bills statewide. …

Great read. Honestly, unemployment sounds great on paper, but even that was hard to get. I was one of those students who kept applying for unemployment every week just to receive nothing. My other friends were receiving $30 to $55 from unemployment every week. It wasn't until 2020 ( I'm very new in the job market) that I saw the importance of being part of a union and having someone to fight for you when employers and social services fail you.

As the leaves stay green, the birds chirp happily, and the Sun shines past 5 o’clock, I can only think about how I will pay my bills, especially with my $8 dollar an hour work-study position ending. The spring semester is ending and graduation is steadily approaching. My summer tuition is in the thousands for just three classes, and the bill is due the first week of May. It would seem as though internships are the answer, and they are — if you can actually get one.

After disregarding internships unwilling to pay college students for their time and labor…

The Queen of Entitlement has spoken. And we must listen.

Before I analyze and respond to Megan’s comments, let’s review just how relatable she is. This supporter of American meritocracy had former Senator John McCain as her father and has millionaire beer heiress, Cindy McCain, as her mother.

Cindy McCain inherited majority control and became chair of Hensley & Co., one of the largest U.S. beer distributors. Her mother’s net worth is estimated to be at least $200 million. Megan McCain has an estimated net worth of at least $10 million and possibly earns at least $1 million from being…

Ah yes, finally Muslim teens are “freed” from those hijabs and burkinis

France’s Islamophobic and sexist laws are not a new phenomenon. It’s been 21 years since the French Senate approved a ban on all religious attire in classrooms including all religious headscarves, large Christian crosses, Jewish kippahs, Sikh turbans, and so on.

It’s been 11 years since the French Senate approved a ban on the wearing of face veils like niqabs and other covering headgear in public places in an effort to “live together” in society.

It’s been 7 years since the 2011 face veil ban was upheld by the European Courts because of its goal to preserve the ideas of…

I may be a Democrat, but it is truly painful to watch Republicans ardently support their party while receiving nothing but crumbs from GOP leaders. The Republican Party is supposed to be the party of personal responsibility. It’s supposed to be the party that fights for the “little guy,” but GOP leaders are not interested in the concerns and desires of everyday working Americans. Unfortunately, Republican leaders are a poor reflection of their progressive constituents.

Yes, you read that correctly. I said progressive. Despite right-wing media outlets like Fox News and NewsMax fervently labeling most progressive policies and initiatives as…

Wearing a mask should NOT be a choice. When the United States has the most coronavirus cases, wearing a mask should NOT be a choice. When there has been a 90% increase in the amount of coronavirus cases among children in the U.S. over the last four weeks, according to a study by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association, wearing a mask should NOT be a choice.

How many times does the CDC have to say that wearing a mask can decrease the spread of the virus? …
